PERNYATAAN PEMERINTAH TERHADAP KASUS CENTURY: Analisis Teks “Politik Pencitraan Pemerintah Melalui Pendekatan Retorika Aristoteles”
Abstract: Since it was first
revealed, “centurygate” had become headline news in various pages of
newspapers. Until now, media still wait
the investigation proces who is
doing by the Financial Audit and Investigation Departement. The “centurygate”
considered to have high news value. The news began to heat up after this case
was associated with a particular political party interest during the election
campaign time. The respons of the journalism are split, a major report in
“TEMPO” magazine( 29/XXXVIII September 01 2009) about the scandal of century considered
biased and impartial government. Allegations emerged that the government uses
the media to construct political imagery to the related case. Based on those
key points, the research is conducted to determine the political imagery
constructed by government through various statements on Kompas, Republika
and jawa Pos released by government officials. Basic
theories used in this study are the five canons of rhetoric of Plato. Plato said : Threre were five canons of
Rhetoric, i.e: Inventio (Invention), (Dispositio) Disposition, Elocutioo
(Style), Memoria (memory) and Ponuntiation (Pronountiation). Besides, we used
rhetoric analysis of Aristoteles. Aristoteles said there were five terms of
rhetoric analysis: Ethos, Pathos, Logos, Aim,and Mode. The result of this research shows that
based on the five canons of rhetoric as plato said, the most dominant news
about century case on Kompas, Replubika and Jawa Pos is Elocution (style),and
“Ethos” also used in the publication of centurygate.
