PEMBERITAAN PERS ATAS RUU KEISTIMEWAAN YOGYAKARTA (Analisis Wacana Berita Harian Umum “Kompas”)
Abstrak: Recently Kompas
continually cover the draft law on the speciality of Yogyakarta province matter
in its news and editorial. These could draw serious question that could be
criticized since Kompas which is known as national newspaper that could not be
easily understood, in fact support region, although in local there is local
newspaper which is the hegemony of local authority. The purpose of this
research is to understand how Kompas newspaper (1) framing the news about the
draft law on the speciality of Yogyakarta province, and how is the political
news of Kompas (2) towards the draft law on the speciality of Yogyakarta
province discourse.
It could be drawn through Gamson and Modigliani framing analysis that
Kompas newspaper support Yogyakarta citizen Yogyakarta special province that
they want determination of their leader. It contradicts with the policy of
central government that is lead by Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Minister for
Home Affairs Gamawan Fauzi that want to implement province leader election like
other region in Indonesia.
Kompas perspective, the draft law on the speciality of Yogyakarta
province is not a prior matter that should be solved immediately. In the other
hand, Kompas has strong belief towards Yogyakarta society perspicacity in
solving their own problem. According to Kompas, during 66 years up till now
there is no urgent problem locally or nationally in the determination of the
speciality of Yogyakarta province.
