Abstract: Wander
the Minangkabau culture
has grown and
evolved since many centuries
ago. The tradition
of Minang people
wander awakened from a
dynamic culture, egalitarian, self-reliant and independent spirit. Plus the
ability bersilat tongue (to
communicate) as one
of their distinguishing features
that make it easy
to adapt to
any ethnic group.
The concept of
shoreline seen as a promising hope
for the future
and a better
life is associated
with socio-economic context
and not in
a political context.
Based on this
concept, go abroad is
to achieve self-development and
social and economic
life for the better. Social relationships that existed
among merchants who are both derived from
the Minang (nomads)
indicate keterlekatan social
capital, social capital has
basic elements, namely
social networks (social
network), the norm confidence (trust),
reciprocity (reciprocity), and
mutually beneficial relationships (mutual
benefit). The study
also discusses the
function of each group member. Social capital and group
function is a key issue of this research. This research is a qualitative study,
the primary method of case study research sites
in Solo Grand
Mall and several
shopping centers in
Surakarta. Sources of data
obtained from primary
and secondary data.
Primary data was
obtained based on information
from some merchants
Minang origin of
the sampled studies, the
perfume merchant, merchant
clothing, accessories and
merchants. While secondary data
is taken from
the office of
Chief of Kemlayan,
books - books that
discuss support social
capital and related
documentation. The technique of collecting data through direct observation, in-depth
interviews dn documentation.

and member checks. For interactive analysis of data analysis models,
including data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion.
