ISLAM KOSMOPOLITAN: MEMAHAMI AJARAN FETHULLAH GULEN
Abstract: After September
Attack 2001, Islam appears as a kind of frightful religion which is always
broadening worry and terror. It was an awful stereotyping for Islamic world. To
respond such as stereotype, Fethullah Gülen upholds that Islam is a problem
solver.He campaigns for the Islamic values and attempts to merge between Islam
and modernity, Islam and western values. He wrote his ideas in the
very-important book, Toward Global Civilization of Love and Tolerance. He
asserted that one of the precise ways on this problematic context is dialogue.
The inclusive paradigm of Fethullah Gülen has released new perspective on the
appreciation of Islam, especially on its tolerance to other religious though.
Gülen holds that rapprochement is an essential means to life together in the
same life. This paper aims to explain Gülen’s views on modernity, piety and
hizmet.
