Kompetensi Pedagogik Guru dalam Mendorong Motivasi Belajar Siswa Pada Mata Pelajaran Sejarah Kelas XI IPS SMA Negeri 5 Malang
Abstract: This research to
describe the : (1) describe the pedagogy competence of the history teacher in
XI IPS classes in SMA Negeri 5 Malang in terms of the understanding towards
students; (2) describe the pedagogy competence of the history teacher in XI IPS
classes in SMA Negeri 5 Malang in terms of the planning of teaching and
learning activities; and (3) describe the pedagogy competence of the history
teacher in XI IPS classes in SMA Negeri 5 Malang in motivating students in terms
of the implementation of teaching and learning activities. The research design employed
in the present study was descriptive study. The purpose of descriptive study was
to obtain a description pertaining to teacher’s pedagogy competence, students’ motivation
to learn, and teacher’s pedagogy competence in improving students’ motivation
to learn. The population of this study was all of XI IPS students and one history
teacher in XI IPS program. The data collection was conducted by interviewing the
teacher, observing both the teacher and the students, and collecting some documentations.
In order to analyze the data, the researcher employed descriptive analysis
method. The result of this study revealed that the pedagogy competence of the
history teacher in XI IPS classes in SMA Negeri 5 Malang pertinent to the understanding
towards students was good, there were still some shortcomings in the pedagogy
competence of the history teacher in XI IPS classes in SMA Negeri 5 Malang
related to the planning os teaching and learning activities, and the pedagogy competence
of the history teacher in XI IPS classes in SMA Negeri 5 Malang in terms of the
implementation of teaching and learning activities was also good. Even though
there were still some weaknesses in constructing lesson plan, the implementation
of teaching and learning activities was good enough. For instance, she had a
good mastery of the materials and had a good competence in explaining the materials
clearly, as well as in using the media available optimally so that the students
could be attracted to pay attention and learn the materials. The teacher were
also able to motivate the students to attend the class, induce the students to
learn the material as well as explain the material clearly so that the students
could comprehend it easily. Furthermore, the students were also active in
asking and answering questions both from the teacher. In the section of
discussion, the students were also able to conclude the materials taught during
the teaching and learning process. It means that teacher’s pedagogy competence
could improve students’ motivation to learn.
