MODIFIKASI ZEOLIT ALAM MENJADI MATERIAL KATALIS PERENGKAHAN
Abstract: Modification of
natural zeolite becoming material that has potential as a catalyst cracking
based on the acidity and the ratio SiO2/Al2O3
has been done. Stages of modifications include the demineralization with EDTA
followed by leaching with nitric acid, followed with reaction using ammonium
salts. The results of XRF analysis showed that the demineralization-leaching
lead to the increasing numbers of SiO2/Al2O3
ratio twice that occurs on natural zeolite. This process also causes a
reduction in the main group metals are extremely significant. Furthermore, it
can be seen also that the entry of ammonium into the zeolite is through the
exchange process with sodium ions. This exchange process led to decreasing
levels of sodium metal to 50% compared with the zeolite that has undergone
demineralization-leaching with increasing ratio SiO2/Al2O3.
The highest increase occurs via additions of ammonium chloride salt in the
amount of 17.59 followed by ammonium fluoride and ammonium nitrate. Decrease in
total metal content through a process of modification of Na after it reached
90% at levels of 0.182%. Decreased levels of Na metal with increasing acidity
with increasing H+ ion sites in zeolites. The combination of increased acidity
and SiO2/Al2O3 ratio is indicative of the
potential of modified zeolite catalyst material such as hydrocarbon cracking
reaction. XRD analysis showed that the modification of natural zeolite leads to
increased crystallinity material without changing the main structure of the
zeolite.
