Determinants of hypertension in elderly at Puskesmas Mauk, 2015
Abstract: Hypertension is a
public health serious problem, because if unchecked will grow and cause
dangerous complications, which can lead to complications eg, stroke, coronary
heartdisease, and kidney failure. The purpose of this study was to determine
the relationship of thefactors with the incidence of hypertension in the
elderly.
Methods: This research is a quantitative study using cross sectional
approach. The population were all elderly who live in Puskesmas Mauk area. The
sample size in this study were 148, obtained using simple random sampling
technique. The statistical test used in this study with chisquare test.
Results: Statistical analysis found more hypertension suffered by elderly
men (67.3%), aged 65-70 years (92.5%), history of hypertension (77.5%) and less
regular exercise (94.1% ). Chi-square testprove that there is a relationship
between sex and hypertension (p = 0.000), age and hypertension(p = 0.000),
history of hypertension and hypertension (p = 0.000), exercise and hypertension
(p = 0.000).
Conclusions: From the research results suggested that the community can
implement a healthy lifestyle from a young age as regular exercise so that it
can undergo old age away from the threat of hypertension.
