KUALITAS BIOPELET DARI LIMBAH BATANG KELAPA SAWIT DAN LIMBAH KAYU PENGGERGAJIAN
ABSTRACT: Research aimed to
evaluate the influence of percentage composition of oil palm trunk waste and wood
sawing wasteas the material for biopellets and evaluate the quality of
biopellets. This study used a completely randomized design The material of oil
palm trunks charcoal and wood sawing was made into small particle. The particle
measuring escaped 40 mesh restrained 60 mesh. The percentage composition of
oilpalm trunks charcoal (OTC) and wood sawing (WS) were as follow: 100% OTC: 0%
WS; 80% OTC: 20% WS; 60% OTC: 4% WS; 40% OTC: 60% WS; 20% OTC: 80% WS; and 0%
OTC: 100 % WS.. The adhesive used was tapioca powder. Atotal weight of
biopellets was 50 grams and concentration of adhesive from tapioca powder was 5%
from the total weight of biopellets. The biopellets size was Ø 1 cm and long ±
4 cm. Biopellets then dried in oven for 24 hours with the temperature 60ºC -
70ºC. Evaluation the quality of biopellets was conducted based on standard SNI
8021-2014.Result of the research showed that all the biopellets has fulfilled
the standard SNI 8021-2014, except on ash content. The composition of oil palm
trunks charcoal (OTC) and wood sawing (WS) has significant effect to calor
contentbut didn’t have significant effect to the value of moisture content, ash
content, fixed carbon and fly material content. The best quality of biopellets
was achieved on composition 20% oil palm trunks charcoal and 80% wood sawing with
the calor value 4489.00 calorie/gram.
