Abstract: Papua is the highest
infant mortality rate province in Indonesia. It encourages the government and
UNICEF to take measures to reduce infant mortality rate in Papua by doing
prevention efforts such as establishing mobile immunization teams that move
from one village to another in the form of mobile clinic program to improve the
health, and preparing Rp. 3,5 billion to charter a plane to transport patients,
an educative effort is made by creating Bare Feet Task Force to do counseling
from one village to another. Those efforts are not really successful, because
some major obstacles that still be the problem of geographical factors of
Papua, lack of facilities and health workers, as well as the lack of public
awareness of the importance of health and healthy lifestyle.
