ANALYSIS OF ESSENTIAL OIL COMPONENTS FROM FRESH LEAVES OF Piper crocatum Ruiz & Pav. AND Curcuma domestica Val.
ABSTRACT: Essential oils
of fresh leaves
from Piper crocatum
(Piperaceae) and Curcuma
domestica (Zyngiberaceae) growing in Palembang, South Sumatera were
isolated in the conventional way by using hydro-distillation apparatus. The
constituents of esential oils were analyzed with GC-MS method. The main constituents
identified in the leaf oil of Piper crocatum were sesquisabinene hydrate
(22.83%), β-bisabolol (17.24%), γ-curcumene (11.16%), anymol (3.90%), and trans-caryophyllene (2.37%). The major compo-nents identified in the leaf
oil of Curcuma domestica were α-phellandrene (65.16%), para-cymene (8.76%), α-terpinolene
(7.73%), eucalyptol (7.45%), and β-pinene (1.23%).
