UNIT COMMITMENT OPTIMIZATION USING MODIFIED DIFFERENTIAL EQUATION
ABSTRACT: One type of problem
in power system is “The Unit Commitment Problem”. The Unit Commitment Problem (UCP)
is a constrained
optimization problem in
which, optimal turn-on
and turn-off schedules need
to be determined
over a given
time horizon for
a group of
power generation units under
some operational constraints. Unit
Commitmen Optimization is
important to be
studied because it can reduce production
cost of power
system. In power
system industry, even
a small reduction in production
cost may lead to a large savings. Even
wide variety optimization techniques have been applied to solve Unit Commitment
Problem, the oportunity to improve those optimization technique still
open. The objective of this research is
to make an improvement in UCP optimization technique using
Differential Evolution algortihm.
Differential algorithm has
proved to be
a very efficient and robust
technique for optimization function and has been used to solve problems in many
scientific fields, but its application in electrical and electronic engineering
is still in its infancy.
