PERANAN YAYASAN PEDULI TIMOR BARAT (YPTB) DALAM UPAYA MEMBANTU KORBAN PENCEMARAN MINYAK DI LAUT TIMOR
Abstract: The purpose of this
research is to describe the role ofWest Timor Care Foundation to assist in the
resolution of cases of oil pollution in the Timor Sea. This type of research is
descriptive which describes the role of West Timor Care Foundation to assist in
the resolution of cases of oil pollution in the Timor Sea. The data presented
are the primary data obtained by the authors through of social media Facebook
Official West Timor Care by asking directly related to pollution in the Timor
Sea along with the completion of the steps undertaken by the West Timor Care
Foundation.
Research results show that since the oil pollution incident in the Timor
Sea caused by the oil well explosion in Montaran on August 21, 2009 PT TEP
Australasia (Thailand-Australia). This contamination gives direct impact on the
economic condition of seaweed farmers and fishermen who rely on subsistence
Indonesia in the Timor Sea. Indonesian government's efforts to resolve this
matter is still experiencing slowness things happen because scientific research
has not been done to make sure the amount of polluted areas and the losses
experienced by the people who are victims of the oil spill pollution, that
makes the claim to the PT TEP is always changing and experiencing rejection .
This situation demands theWest Timor Care Foundation as one of the NGOs who
were in the area to help the victims to claim their compensation to PT.TEP
Australasia by doing research and scientific evidence to the commission of
inquiry into the Montara. Thus the West Timor Care Foundation found the
evidence to bring claim in Federal court of Australia.
