PERAN UNIT COUNTER-TRAFFICKING IOM (INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATION FOR MIGRATION) INDONESIA DALAM UPAYA MENANGANI HUMAN TRAFFICKING DI KALIMANTAN BARAT (2004-2010)
Abstrak: This research aims to
determine the factors that increase human trafficking in West Borneo and the
Role of Counter-Trafficking unit IOM Indonesia in tackling the problem of
trafficking in West
Borneo in the
year 2004-2010. This
research is a descriptive study, which provides an
overview and explains the factors that increase human trafficking
and the role
of IOM Counter
Trafficking Unit through
in dealing with Human Trafficking
in West Borneo.
And the technique
of analysis used
in this research is qualitative
analysis method, it is use issues based on facts or phenomenon and then will be
a concluded.
The results showed that the factors causing an increase in human
trafficking in West Borneo is influenced
by geography and different levels of economic/livelihood in West
Borneo border region,
the effects of industrialization which led
to a lack of employment
and business opportunities, weakness
of population administrative systems, lack
of public knowledge
about the form
of human trafficking.
The role of Indonesia’s IOM Counter Trafficking in
tackling the problem of Human Trafficking in
West Borneo is
a partnership. Through
the programs of
the Counter Trafficking Unit as
prevention of human
trafficking, including through
education and empowerment, protection
of victims: the
return, recovery and
reintegration, for the prosecution of traffickers/human through
training for law enforcement agencies; and research, in an effort to deal with
human trafficking in West Borneo.
