STRATEGI KOMUNIKASI PEMBANGUNAN DALAM COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
Abstract: Garbage is one of
the factor to contribute in environmental problems. In fact, inappropriate garbage
management can cause pollution and give negative effects to our health.
Furthermore, people’s lack of awareness about this issue can make it worse.
Once, the people of Dusun Sukunan faced these problems. Thus, in 2004, Seksi
Kebersihan dan Lingkungan Hidup proposed a a community development program
called Pengelolaan Sampah Mandiri (PSM) to solve both garbage problem and raise
people awareness in garbage management.
This research discussed the use of folk media as development
communication strategy used by Seksi Kebersihan dan Lingkungan Hidup in this
community development program. Folk media is the creative dissemination of
information through cultural and performance arts. It is considered as the most
effective and efficient approach for
traditional societies such as in Dusun Sukunan because folk media:
poems, religious activity, stories, riddles, songs and dance have been popularly
and successfully used to disseminate message and even to pass on wisdom of
older generations to the youth.
