FAMILY PLANNING IN ISLAM
Abstract: There is a
controversy amongst Islamic scholars regarding family planning in Islam. Some
believe that it is lawful, while the rests consider that this is not in accordance with the
teachings of Islam.
In addition, it
is suspiciously considered
as a foreign (non-Muslims) hidden agenda to weaken
the Muslims. So, what is the substance
of the family planning? What is the method in doing so? What is the purpose of
doing so? Then, how
if it is
linked to economic
and ecosy stem? Who
has the right
to determine the implementation of
family planning? What
is family planning
in Islamic law? This paper addresses
these issues by
using descriptive and analytical method
to the arguments
put forward by
both people who
accept and those
who reject. I argue
that in the
conditions of extreemely
inbalance between the
human population growth and the ecosystem, the family planning is not
only allowed but it must be obligated by the Government as a representative of
the community.
