DAYA SAING INDUSTRI AGRO SUMATERA BARAT MENGHADAPI MASYARAKAT EKONOMI ASEAN 2015
Abstrak: This study aims to
observe competitiveness of agro industry products of West Sumatra in facing
ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) 2015 using detailed agro industry’s trade flows
over the period 2008-2012 and, several trade competitiveness indexes based on
RCA, Normalized RCA, Trade Entropy Index (TEI). It reveals that the product of
animal and vegetables oils and fats of West Sumatra is relatively competitive
compare to other product. The agro industry products that related to product of
animal and vegetables oils and fats are palm oil, palm fruit bunch, and other
fatty acids. Palm oil (SITC 422.21) and palm fruit bunch (SITC 422.29) have
been the main export commodities of West Sumatra for the period of 2008-2012.
These results imply that the local government of West Sumatra should evaluate
the road map of main product of West Sumatra by considering palm oil and palm
fruit bunch as main products of West Sumatra and by strengthening cooperation
with Riau province on palm oil production
