Perbandingan Pengaruh Musik Relaksasi dan Musik yang Disukai terhadap Persepsi Nyeri
Abstract: Many studies suggest
that listening to music can be a noninvasive technique capable of affecting the
sensation of pain and even the emotional consequences of the experience. Both
relaxation music and favourite music can stimulate the brain to produce alpha
wave. The alpha wave induces the release of β-endorphin and serotonin, which
have a role in analgesia system. The objective of this study was to examine the
effect of relaxation music and favourite music onpain perception by measuring
the tolerance time of the pain. This research was conducted to 31 male medical
students of Maranatha Christian University, age 19-26 years old. Through cold
trials, the tolerance time of pain was measured in the unit of second using a
stopwatch during the relaxation music and the favourite music were played. The
data were analysed by Wilcoxon test with α=0.05. The mean of the tolerance time
of pain on the relaxation music was 105.29 seconds with SD=109.646, and the
mean of the tolerance time of painon the favourite music was 220.23 seconds
with SD=194.921. There were significant differences on the tolerance time of
pain between listening to the favourite music and the relaxation music
(p=0,000)**. The conclusion is the tolerance time of pain perception on the
favourite music is longer than that on the relaxation music.
