Management of Upper Eyelid Coloboma with Three Steps Technique Surgery
ABSTRACT: The aims of this
case report is to report the result of upper eyelid coloboma repair with three
steps surgery. A 5-month-old baby with upper eyelid defect in the left eye
since she was born. There were tearing and discharge in the left eye.
Examination on the left eye revealed coloboma at 1/3 medial upper eyelid,
symblepharon and pseudopterygium. In this case we performed three steps
surgery. First step was releasing tissue as close as possible, second step was
performing fullthickness graft from upper eyelid of the fellow eye and third
step was Z-plasty performing at the superior medial canthal. Follow up was done
for 3 months after surgery with a good result. In a small baby with 1/3 upper
eyelid defect although graft was already done to repair the coloboma, Z-plasty
technique still needed to elongate the tissue and close the defect.
