Management of the Complication After Silicone Fluid Injection at Facial and Eyelid Region
ABCTRACT: The aim of this case
report is to report the management of complication after silicone fluid
injection on facial and eyelid region and to educate the community about the
side effect of silicone fluid injection. Three patients who had been injected
with silicone fluid by unprofessional or non medical person on facial and
eyelid region complained about changes in consistency of the skin and eyelid contour
as blepharochalasis and baggy eyelid one or two years after injection. The
reason of the silicone injection was for cosmetically purpose with low budget.
With a good informed consent about the complication of silicone fluid injection
and the deformity condition of the skin and eyelid, blepharoplasty technique
was performed to reconstruct the deformity. The upper lid blepharoplasty had
been done for 1st and 3th patients, whereas upper and lower lid blepharoplasty
had been done for the 2nd patient. During this operation fibrotic orbicularis muscle and vesicles
amoung muscle tissue in the various diameter were found. The fibrotic tissue
and vesicles had been excised maximally, because very difficult to excise all
the fibrotic tissue and the vesicles. Histological examination showed non
specific chronic inflammation. All patients have a good contour of the eyelid.
The complication after silicone fluid injection can be managed by
blepharoplasty with good result and patient's satisfy.
