Hubungan Infeksi gigi rahang atas dengan kejadian Rhinosinusitis Maksilaris di Rumah Sakit Umum Daerah Raden Mattaher Jambi
Abstract : Sinusitis is a
common cause of health problems in the
world and often found in daily practice physician. Based source of sinusitis
infection, sinusitis is divided to rhinogenic sinusitis and odontogenic sinusitis. Odontogenic sinusitis
can be caused by abnormalities of dental such as an infection of the upper molar teeth (pre molar
adn molar). This study aimed to determine correlation between dental infection
of the upper jaw with maxillary sinusitis in Raden Mattaher Jambi Hospital.
Method : This study was a analytical research with cross sectional design
including 34 patients who are selected by total sampling technique. This
research was conducted in Raden Mattaher Jambi
Hospital from May to June 2013.
Samples were all of rhinosinusitis patients aged ≥ 12 yeras old and who has done photo paranasal
sinuses. Statistical used chi square test.
Result : The result showed of 34 patients, there are 29 patients (85,3%)
with maxillary rhinosinusitis, 2 patients (5,9%) with etmoidalis
rhinosinusitis, 3 patients (8,8%) with frontalis rhinosinusitis and no patients
(0%) with sphenoid rhinosinusitis. 34 patients be found 22 pastients (64,7%)
with dental infection of the upper jaw. There is a correlation between dental
infection of the upper jaw with maxillary sinusitis in Raden Mattaher Jambi
Hospital. Dental infection of the upper
jaw had 10.5 times greater risk
for the occurrence of maxillary sinusitis.
Conclusion : There is correlation between dental infection of the upper
jaw with maxillary sinusitis. The importance of regular dental examinations are
one way to minimize maxillary sinusitis due to dental infection.
