Histopathologic Profile Grading of Haematoxylene Eosin on Retinoblastoma Stadium
ABSTRACT: The purpose of this
study was to investigate the morphological features of retinoblastoma with
histopathologic aggressiveness on retinoblastoma patients. Retrospective
reviewed and analyzed was done according Spearman correlation method. Fiveteen
retinoblastoma patients surgical eye specimens were collected and examined at
pathology laboratory of Dr. Soetomo Hospital between January 1st, to December
31st, 2010. The patients age average was 47.73 months ± 28.23 months, consist
of 60% (9) male and 40% (6) female patients with 93.3% (14) unilateral and 6.7%
(1) bilateral. The clinical phenomenas are leucokoria 100% (15), proptosis and
chemosis 86.7% (13), optic nerve invasion 50% (6), muscles extraocular invasion
20% (3). exenteration 13 (86.7%), and enucleation 2 (13.3%) . The histopathological
features indicated that Rosette cells has been more observed on
Flexner-Wintersteiner Rosette 73.3% (11), along with pleomorphic cell 60% (9),
necrotic cell 33.3% (5) as well as mitotic cells 60% (9). The tumors usually
are poor differentiated 8 (53.3%). Retinoblastoma International Staging was not
significanly in association to the tumor differentiation/histopatological
grading (rs = -0.170, p = 0.545). However, this study realized that a
correlation between the differentiation of retinoblastoma tumor cells with histopathological
grading namely in term of the pleumorphic, necrotic and mitotic cell population
(α <0.05).
