KAJI EKSPERIMENTAL PENGARUH TEMPERATUR KARBONISASI, DAN SUPLAI UDARA TERHADAP KARAKTERISTIK PEMBAKARAN BIOBRIKET TONGKOL JAGUNG

ABSTRACT: The world energy consumption has been increasing  continuously. On the other hand reserve of energy resources, specially fossil fuel energy resources tend to decrease. To anticipate the scarce of energy or even crisis of energy, the study to look for the source of alternative energy require to be done. Energy sources of agriculture residue biomass, specially corn cob is very attractive to be studied because of its availability which is abundante ( 7.315.861 ton / year) but not yet been exploited maximally.
This research investigated the influence of carbonisation temperature, briquetting pressure and velocity of air on combustion characteristic of corn cob biomass. In this  research, carbonisation was conducted in three different temperatures, i.e. 2200C, 3000C and 3800 From the experimental result, it can be concluded that process of carbonisation can improve content of fixed carbon, heating value and mean of heat released rate of fuel. Increasing carbonisation temperature will increase heating value, decrease mean of CO emission of charcoal production, but  the mean of mass losses and heat released rate will decrease. Increasing velocity of supplay air will increase the mean of mass losses and flue gas temperatur will go down. From air velocity   0,1 m/s to 0,3 m/s,  CO emission goes down and goes up at 0,4 m/s. C. Supplay of combustion air were varied with four velocities, i.e. 0,1 m/s, 0,2 m/s, 0,3 m/s and 0,4 m/s.
