ABSTRACT: This  research  evaluates  the  inelastic  behavior  of  ductile  Buckling-Restrained Braced  Truss-girder  Moment Frames  (BRBTMF)  by  analytical  means.  The  BRBTMF  proposed  in  this  paper  is  the  modification  of  the  Special  Truss Moment Frames (STMF) Vierendeel type by inserting Buckling-Restraint Braces (BRB) inverted-V-type into Vierendeel-segment to improve its inelastic behavior. The BRB section is a strip plate core LYS235 low yield steel, cased with rectangular hollow section A36 steel as a buckling-restraint material. The four story-seven bays frame model is analyzed using DRAIN-2DX nonlinear software. From the Nonlinear History Analysis using earthquake records, it  can  be  concluded  that  in  general,  the  BRBTMF  has  better  inelastic  behavior  than  the  STMF  Vierendeel  type. The BRBTMF has the drift ratio up to 40.5 percent and the roof displacement up to 20.2 percent less than those in the STMF Vierendeel  type  due  to  the  Miyagi  record.     It  has  been  proven  from  the  Nonlinear  Static  Push-Over  Analysis  that  the BRBTMF  has  a  good  ductility,  which  is  33.2  percent  greater  than  that  of  the  STMF  Vierendeel  type. The  base  shear resulting from the Push-Over Analysis in the BRBTMF is 41.4 percent less than that in the STMF Vierendeel type. Based on  these  preliminary  studies,  it  is  possible  to  verify  the  validity  of  the  BRBTMF  proposed  by  experimental  means and furthemore the BRBTMF may be implemented to practice.
