KETAHANAN PAKAN UNGGAS DI TENGAH KRISIS PANGAN
Abstract: Fodder is one of the
important things in poultry industry. The extreme raise of the fodder price
during the monetary crisis in Indonesia in 1997 caused degradation in poultry
industry. The condition of fodder crisis which did not yet completely get
better was made even worse by two other crises; they are the crisis of
from-fossil oil energy and the crisis of food supply. Indonesia also faced a
disadvantageous situation because of the crisis of oil energy and the global
food crisis. Fodder crisis occurs when the must-allocated food is not
available, therefore the food crisis will always be followed fodder crisis.
Solution toward birds fodder crisis must be comprehensive and involve many
parties, such as government, entrepreneurs, society, and academicians.
Government plays important role as a regulator and stabilizer to the
business of birds fodder ingredients. Entrepreneurs work as investor and
big-scale operator. Society especially the farmers, poultry breeders and
traditional fishermen have important role as the small-scale supplier with
bright potency to gain big-scale production. Meanwhile, the academicians may
share their role by solving the fodder problems trough education, workshop,
research, and implementation of the field.
