SINTESIS SENYAWA 3-KLORO-1,2-PROPANADIOL DENGAN CARA DEKETALISASI 2-METIL-2-FENIL-4-METIL KLORO-1,3-DIOKSOLAN DALAM PELARUT TETRAHIDROFURAN
Abstrak: Ketalization of
glycerol and acetophenone in an azeotropic petroleum benzene solvent using
p-toluene sulfonic acid as the catalyst gave
2-methyl-2-phenyl-4-hydroxymethyl-1,3-dioksolane with 82% yiled. The product
was selectively chlorinated with phosphor trichlorida in chloroform solvent
gave 2-methyl-2-phenyl-4-kloro methyl-1,3-dioxolane with79% yield and followed
by deketalization by treatment with 1N hydrochloric acid in Tetrahydrofuran to
produce 3-chloro-1,2-propane-diol.
