Knowledge about the dangers of smoking and the factors behind
Abstract: Smoking is basically
a hazardous chemical activity. Global Youth Tobacco Survey (GYTS) conducted a
survey on the consumption of cigarettes in Indonesia in 2006 showed more than a
third (37.3%) junior high school students in Indonesia had ever smoked, 61.3%
of whom were male and 15.5% werefemale. The purpose of this study was to determine
the knowledge of teenagers about the dangers of smoking in Pasundan Junior High
School Tangerang, 2015 Methods: This research is a descriptive study using
cross sectional design. The study populationwas all students of Pasundan Junior
High School Tangerang, sample in this study as much as total population (100
respondents). Collecting data using valid and reliable questionnaires.
Results: The results of the 100 samples found more respondents with less
knowledge level of 44.0%, aged ≥13 years (32.0%), teenage boys (60%), and Class
8 (36.0%).
Conclusions: It is hoped that the promotion of the dangers of smoking
through educational health or counseling is further enhanced so that it can
change the behavior of adolescents who did not harm her health.
