ABSTRACT: The World Health Organization (WHO) in 2012 reveals that there are 11 conditions that cause the death of children aged under five years old in Indonesia. One of those conditions is diarrhea. It has claimed the lives of around 6% of the total number of children in Indonesia. The most important thing in diarrheal disease management is preventive efforts. In delivering health promotion for preschool children, we should take into account the health promotion method. It should be interesting and interactive, for example using such singing and handwashing dance methods. This research aimed at comparing the effectiveness of handwashing with singing method versus handwashing dance among preschool children to improve their knowledge regarding handwashing technique. This research was a quantitative research using quasy experiment by employing a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. In total, 74 people (38 person in singing method group and 36 people in handwashing dance group) were selected in this study according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data were collected using observation sheets hand washing techniques. Based on non parametric Mann-Whitney test, it was found that the value of Asymp. Sig (2-tailed) was under the 0.05. It can be inferred that there is a meaningful difference in handwashing techniques knowledge using a singing method compared with a handwashing dance, where the average value of an increased score before and after intervention handwashing dance is higher compared to the singing methods namely 54,71 versus 21.20. Then it can be concluded that the handwashing intervention dance is more effective in improving the knowledge of hand washing technique among the peschool children in PAUD TK Pra Widyalaya Gurukula and PAUD Negeri Pembina Bangli.
