PENGARUH NAUNGAN TERHADAP PEMATANGAN GONAD DAN PEMIJAHAN IKAN BELIDA (CHITALA LOPIS) DI KOLAM RAWA
ABSTRACT: An experiment was
executed to evaluate effect of shelter on gonad maturation and spawning of
knife fish (Chitala lopis) from June to December in ponds. Four ponds of 200 m2
in dimension size and 70 cm in water depth were divided in two parts as an
experimental pond. One unit experiment in each pond was covered by water
hyacinth at 50% of total area. After acclimatized, five pairs of the brooder
fish was stocked in each experimental unit and fed on live fish of trash fish
and tilapia fingerlings at equal proportion every morning for six months of
experimental period. Five wood stakes as fertilized eggs sticky were set in
every experimental unit and observed at least twice a month. Artificial
spawning using ovaprim hormone at 5 cc in doze per kg was conducted. Water
quality of experimental unit was observed monthly. The results showed that all
males gonad was mature since month – 1, but percentage of gonad maturation of
female increased from July to December. Fertilized eggs stick in stake was
found monthly, except November. Artificial spawning succeeded, but up to eggs
fertilization. Shelter effectively affected in eggs maturation during dry
season, namely July to September.
