KARAKTERISTIK MASSA AIR DI SELAT SUNDA PADA MUSIM PERALIHAN
ABSTRACT: Sunda Strait Waters
to be influenced the mixing the Java sea waters and Indian Ocean. Parameters
such as temperature, salinity, and depth were measured vertically by CTD at the
beginning of March 2012 to measure the density of Sunda Strait Waters that
represent to transition monsoon. Data were processed by ODV’s software. Water
masses of Sunda Strait Waters being closed to Java Sea has high temperature,
low salinity and density, but those being closed to Indian Ocean has low
temperature, salinity, and density which increased by depths. The differences
of density vertical distribution were the upper layer were influenced by Java
Sea water masses with a relatively low value, while the deeper layer is
influenced by Indian Ocean with a high value.
