ABSTRACT: Indonesia does not have a standard size for fishing boats, so that each area has a variety of sizes for the same fishing gear. The main dimensions of the boat can be used to determine the capacity of the vessel, stability and other calculations. The purposes of this study are to describe the main dimensions of the danish seine fishing vessel and to analyze the relationship between main dimension ratio with engine power and seine size in Archipelagic Fishing Port of Karangantu. The results showed the boats have average of LOA as 12.56 m, Bmax 4.17 m, and depth 1.49 m. The range of L/B, L/D, B/D is 2.52-3.38; 5.95-10.91 and 1.91-3.54 respectively. The fisherman of danish seine in barangantu use two kind of engine power, there are 98 HP and 118 HP. The ratio of main dimension do not use to judgement in order to select engine power and seine size because the fishermen still apply their traditional knowledge and financial support to select the appropriate size of seine and the optimum engine power.
