IDENTIFIKASI KECEPATAN MERAYAP KEPITING BAKAU (SCYLLA SERRATA) PADA BENTUK MATA JARING DAN SUDUT KEMIRINGAN YANG BERBEDA
ABSTRACT: The collapsible trap
is a common trap used to catch mud crabs in Indonesia. The trap entrance
(funnel) design has a significant effect to fishing efficiency. The research
aimed to determine an optimal entrance design of collapsible trap to catch mud
crab based on inclination angle and mesh size (net) pattern. The laboratory
experiment was conducted to collect data of mud crab creeping speed at
inclination angle of 20°, 30°, 40°, using box and diamond net surface. The
Kruskal Wallis analysis was used to define the effect of inclination angle and
net shape. Mud crabs can cross a box and diamond funnel easier in angle 20°
than in angle 40°. The crawling speed at box and diamond shape varied from 1.88
– 7.50 cm/s and 1.88 – 5.00 cm/s respectively. The highest speed was found at
diamond shape in 20° inclination angle and the lowest speed was at 40°. The
different angles and net shapes have a significant effect to crawling speed of
mud crabs, and the optimal design was funnel with 30° inclination angle using
box net pattern.
